Many industries operate in a regulated environment. Regulation takes many forms but most regulation derives from the need to ensure competitive markets, or to provide controls where competition is lacking, and from the need to ensure health and safety.
The Projects Group has experience of the regulatory framework affecting each of the sectors in which it works especially the energy, water, waste, health and transport sectors. The work of the Group complements the firm's expertise in advising on regulatory dispute resolution and health safety matters. Across the firm we are able to provide regulatory advice from compliance, to transactional support, to dispute resolution.
Today, regulation is increasing in almost every area, but in particular in the regulation of energy and energy intensive industries, where CO2 emissions controls and replacement are of paramount importance. We are developing a particular expertise in CO2 regulatory frameworks, building on the long-standing strength of our environmental practice.
