Infrastructure & Development

Our development team continues to handle some of the most challenging and significant infrastructure and development projects underway in Scotland.

Rolls-Royce

We advised Rolls Royce plc on all legal aspects of the procurement of its major new factory at Inchinnan, near Glasgow. This complex forward funded development agreement will result in the largest factory development in Scotland for many years. During the transaction, named 'Deal of the Year' in Scotland by Property Week Magazine, our property team also drew from the firm's highly rated expertise in planning and construction.

Edinburgh's Telford College

We are advising Edinburgh's Telford College on all aspects of its proposed relocation to a new purpose-built campus at Edinburgh's Waterfront development area at Granton. This is a landmark development in the regeneration of Edinburgh's Waterfront. Our team is advising on all regulatory(public procurement/Scottish Further Education Funding Council), tax, commercial property and construction matters in relation to the proposed 30,000 m development and the disposal of the College's existing 3 campuses in central Edinburgh.

Junction One Factory Outlet Centre, County Antrim

We are advising The Guinea Group Limited, specialist developers and operators of factory outlet centres, in their 40m development of a purpose built factory outlet, a major development in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The development will comprise in excess of 140,000 square feet of factory outlet retail together with additional catering facilities. In addition, on the same development site, 75,000 square feet of retail warehousing and a cinema/leisure facility will also be developed.

Our specialist corporate joint ventures team also advised The Guinea Group Limited in relation to the creation of the joint venture company - Junction One Limited - to carry out the development and we are retained by the joint venture company to advise on all matters relating to the acquisition, funding, construction, letting and management of the development.

Corus Group plc

We have been advising British Steel plc (now Corus Group plc) since 1998 in relation to joint venture proposals for the redevelopment of the former Ravenscraig steelworks site at Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. Under the terms of a Joint Venture Agreement of 2001 it is envisaged that the 1100 acre site will be redeveloped by Wilson Bowden (brownfield regeneration specialists) as Master Developers, utilising public sector financial contributions procured through Scottish Enterprise (the third joint venture partner) to create what is intended to become Scotland's first new town for decades. Planning permission is believed to be imminent (April 2003), and the procurement process anticipated to roll-out over 15-20 years.
