Malcolm is based in our Aberdeen Office and has over 10 years experience working in claims involving oil and gas, and the drilling, shipping and logistic support to that industry. He handles claims arising from a wide range of marine contexts. Malcolm was instructed in investigation and settlement of one of the first serious accidents during construction of a renewable energy installation off the coast of Scotland.
As a Solicitor Advocate (Civil) Malcolm has extended rights of audience to appear in civil cases in the Court of Session and Supreme Court. Malcolm appeared as junior counsel in the reported jury trial case of Thomson -v-Thomson Builders Ltd in February 2011.
Malcolm has dealt with the investigation of oil and gas claims in foreign jurisdictions as diverse as Texas, Norway, Libya, Turkmenistan and Mexico.
Malcolm also works on other contractual and commercial matters such as technical disputes or indemnity (Hold Harmless) contracts arising in the shipping and transport sector as well as regulatory matters from oil spills to health and safety law.
