A highly experienced litigator, Louise has acted for insurers, loss adjusters, brokers, partnerships, private and public limited companies, government bodies, self-insuring corporate entities and individuals across a broad range of work types. For example she has handled claims arising from the carrying out of construction and demolition works, the occupation and operation of commercial premises and leases, corporate mergers, private and equity investment schemes, projects and a wide variety of professional advice. She has also advised insurers and businesses on insurance coverage for high profile events, such as corporate mergers, sponsorship deals and sporting events. Louise began specialising in professional indemnity work in 2008 and she is now most regularly instructed by insurers to defend claims against professionals, including solicitors, surveyors, accountants, financial advisers and immigration advisers.
Always mindful of her clients’ commercial considerations, Louise is committed to resolving disputes with economics in mind, although balanced against the importance of any reputational issues and business continuity. She favours alternative dispute resolution in cases where it is likely to offer a more equitable or acceptable solution than litigation. She recently took a million-pound professional indemnity claim to mediation and in addition to achieving settlement of the case, was commended by the mediator on her contributions to the success of the process and her natural problem solving abilities.
Louise is also a keen champion of IT-based efficient working and has led initiatives for the development of bespoke case management software for the firm’s casualty and professional indemnity teams. She is also a regular contributor to the firm’s legal updates and e-bulletins and to our specialist insurance and risk twitter feed, which delivers knowledge and expertise directly to our clients’ and contacts’ desktops.
