Alex focuses on the Land and Rural Business sector acting for some of Scotland’s largest landowners together with a diverse range of estates, farms, rural businesses and financial institutions lending to the sector. Alex advises on all areas of rural property with particular expertise in development options relating to renewables projects, residential development and minerals extraction. He also deals extensively with agricultural tenancies, sporting rights, boundary disputes and access agreements. He brings not only an understanding of traditional rural operations but also a focused commercial approach, increasingly important as rural businesses seek to diversify into alternative commercial ventures. His clients benefit from his desire to be part of their team, involved in delivering excellent day-to-day service and the longer term strategy that is essential to such businesses.
Alex also specialises in liquor licensing and heads up the licensing team at Brodies. He sits on the Law Society of Scotland Licensing Law Sub-Committee.
