A member of Brodies' Technology, Information and Outsourcing Group, Martin specialises in advising clients on technology procurement, IT and business process outsourcing, data protection and information law, and intellectual property.

Martin is recognised by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 for his work on IT contracts, and he advises clients in both the public and private sector, in particular the financial services industry. He regularly advises on the outsourcing and procurement of IT and telecoms, with recent projects covering the migration of a contact centre telephony platform to a cloud hosted solution, the procurement of a hosted insurance platform and contact centre services, and an enterprise data warehouse implementation.

Martin’s data protection and information law experience includes advising on complex data protection law compliance issues, privacy impact assessments, data transfers, data sharing, information security and cyber attacks. He is currently advising a number of clients on their preparations for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

He also advises on intellectual property and general technology law matters, and has a particular interest in the laws applying to social media and new technology such as mobile apps, contactless/mobile payments, smart ticketing and smart metering. Martin's experience includes advising on a number of projects utilising the ITSO standard for transport smart cards.
