High school students across Scotland have been recognised for their creativity and artistic talents in the annual Royal Scottish Academy Schools Art Awards competition.
The awards ceremony, which encourages artistic skills of technique, observation and interpretation, held on Monday 12 June 2023 at Brodies' Edinburgh office, Capital Square, saw prizes go to 27 students including entries from two special schools. The awards received over 800 entries from 70 schools across the country, with Bannerman High School and McLaren High School winning awards for Inspirational Art Departments.
This year, the theme for the Chair's Challenge was 'this is important to me' which encouraged entries to focus on something very small or expansive but with personal importance.
UK top 50 and leading Scottish law firm Brodies LLP continues to sponsor the RSA Schools Art Award for the eighth consecutive year.
Brodies' Chair, Christine O'Neill KC said: "Once again Brodies is delighted to sponsor the RSA Schools Art Awards. The standard of entries for the Chair's Challenge, and indeed across all categories, has been exceptional. The students have really exceeded expectations in demonstrating their artistry and creativity."
Gareth Fisher president of the Royal Scottish Academy added: "The RSA continues its commitment to supporting young creative artists from the start. I was impressed by the quality, variety and excellence of the entries submitted this year – each year students continue to set the bar higher and higher in terms of the standard of their work."
An exhibition of winning entries is available to view online until 23 July 2023.
