Two members of Brodies' Advocacy Unit have secured appointments to the Scottish Government's list of 'Standing Junior Counsel' - advocates and solicitor advocates who represent the Scottish Government in courts, tribunals and inquiries.

Christine O'Neill Brodies LLP

Brodies' Chairman Christine O'Neill has been appointed as First Standing Junior. The Government's First Standing Junior will normally be instructed in cases of particular importance to the Government.

Christine has been a Standing Junior since 2009 and has acted for the Scottish Government in cases involving public procurement, human rights and the powers of the Scottish Parliament.

Niall McLean Brodies LLP

Public law specialist and solicitor advocate Niall McLean has also been appointed as a Standing Junior and will act for the Scottish Government under the instruction of the Scottish Government Legal Directorate.

Standing juniors may be instructed in a wide range of areas including administrative law, EU law, equalities, human rights, procurement and planning.
