Food and drink is of huge importance to the Scottish economy and one of the country's most dynamic and successful sectors. Employing around 330,000 people and with a turnover of over £12.4 billion per annum, Scottish food and drink companies are exporting to over 200 countries and have seen sales of Scottish brands in the UK increase by more than a quarter since 2007. The recent horse meat scandal has made consumers focus on the origin and quality of produce, giving Scottish producers a real advantage, and therefore significant potential for future growth both in the domestic and export markets.
