FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Because there's more
to divorce than splitting up.

Financial Support

Relationship breakdown can inevitably lead to financial uncertainty.

We provide practical and sensible advice which will alleviate day to day financial concerns for you and help you to plan for the future.

Maintenance when couples separate

Financial arrangements after separation can be the source of much concern and anxiety for couples.

Married couples have a legal obligation to support one another – cohabiting couples do not. We regularly formulate agreements for couples which provide certainty and security following separation.

Whatever your circumstances we can provide you with tailor-made and practical guidance.

We can advise you on:

  • when and in what circumstances it is appropriate that maintenance be paid; maintenance is generally paid if one party can show that they have a reasonable need for continuing support following separation
  • an appropriate level of maintenance taking into account needs and resources
  • the circumstances in which maintenance should be paid following divorce to enable one party to adjust to an independent life or to alleviate serious financial hardship.
