A dispute resolution expert from leading Scottish and top 50 UK law firm, Brodies LLP, has been appointed as president of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen.

Ken MacDonald, who specialises in commercial disputes and international arbitration, takes over the year-long role from Martin Ewan of Pinsent Masons and will lead the Society's management committee, and act as an ambassador for the organisation.

With roots dating back to the 16th century, the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen promotes legal professional expertise and standards in the North east of Scotland and acts as a networking platform for those within the industry, including practising lawyers, supporting professionals, academics and members of the judiciary.

Ken said, "The Society of Advocates has played an important role by providing valuable opportunities to connect with peers and share knowledge. In my new role I hope to continue the good work of the Society, and in particular, ensure that we continue to support those who are at the beginning of their legal careers."
